Abstract

I have begun creating abstract photographs. This is something I have always been fascinated by.

2019 – #photoaweek challenge week 21

This week in my #photoaday challenge over on Instagram, I have been continuing the theme of “Flowers”.

For this week’s #photoaweek, I have continued to look at creating more abstract photos of flowers with different backgrounds. I took these photos using my Canon 5d iii and Zeiss 50mm lens. Today, focussing on creating a vivid yellow background with very subtle flowers, using double exposure. These are my favourite flowers in our garden and they are almost disappearing for another year… making way for new displays.

2019 – #photoaweek challenge week 19

This week in my #photoaday challenge over on Instagram, I have been continuing the theme of “Flowers”.

For this week’s #photoaweek, I wanted to create abstract images of the same flowers featured throughout the week. I took these photos using my Canon 5d iii and Zeiss 50mm lens.

2019 – #photoaweek challenge week 10

This week in my #photoaday challenge over on Instagram, I have been looking at patterns & shapes. Looking at the everyday objects around us for inspiration.

For this week’s #photoaweek, I decided to continue looking at patterns and shapes. I used one of the subjects photographed this week; my garden table. These images are taken using a combination of in camera multiple exposure (“Average” mode), obstructing part of the single exposures to distort the shapes. Purely experimental to practice the techniques.

2019 – #photoaweek challenge week 6

This week in my #photoaday challenge over on Instagram, I have been looking at a few different themes. These have included trees, sunset, pets & finding beauty in the ordinary.

For this week’s #photoaweek challenge, I wanted to explore the trees that I photographed twice in my #photoaday posts. The trees are at the end of my garden and I find them fascinating and beautiful. They bring me great joy and I love their ever changing presence. On Saturday of this week, it was particularily breezy and I decided to experiment with long exposure photography to capture the movement of the branches. I spent a good hour in the garden (fleece and gloves definitely needed), playing with my Canon 5Diii and my Lee Filters, Big Stopper. The main reason for this project was to practice using the Lee filter and have fun with creative image creation.

2019 – #photoaweek challenge week 5

This week in my #photoaday challenge over on Instagram, I have been looking at a few different themes. These have included pets, reflections & finding beauty in the ordinary.

For this week’s #photoaweek challenge, I wanted to explore the theme of #reflections and #findingbeauty. These leaves in the partially frozen water of my bird feeder have featured in one of my #phonephoto posts on Instagram. Using multiple exposure (x3), I looked at the different components within this small environment and combined them into one photo.

“The layer of white makes a small, straight, crumbling cliff

Where we open the back door inwards.”

~ Alan Brownjohn (Extract form poem: Explorer)

Wrest Park Petals

She was a dog-rose kind of girl

Elusive, scattery as petals

Scratchy sometimes tripping you like briars

~ Sally, Pheobe Hesketh
