This week in my #photoaday challenge over on Instagram, I have continued to focus on flowers.
For this week’s #photoaweek, I wanted to explore an idea that came to me while sitting on the sun lounger at the end of the day on the hottest day of the year so far. I enjoy the peace that falls at around 8-9pm on a summer’s evening. People are settling down, the heat is easing and it starts to feel calm. My favourite time of the day. As I looked up to the sky, I noticed the clouds with a soft light and slight grey edges. I realised that at this time of day, on a hot day, the sky often goes unnoticed, slightly unremarkable. But there was so much beauty in the sky.
I decided to have a play with my telephoto lens and some long exposure shots, handheld. On this calm, hot day, I wanted to create something dramatic as a contrast to the reality. But also something mysterious.
